For the GSBA, they wanted to provide more than just the standard “listing” of members on their directory page. The GSBA thus commissioned MapIt and their MapIt program was recently launch. Just before MapIt launched the GSBA canvassed their members to see how many might be interested in purchasing an enhanced profile listing. Based upon a reasonable percentage of members purchasing the “enhanced listing” options (about 60%), they have estimated a first year’s total revenue of between $60,000 and $70,000! Now as a Non-profit organization, this is a revenue source which is welcomed and is also a revenue source they had never otherwise considered; that is, until MapIt brought this program to their attention.
So let’s take a look at the GSBA model:
- As a part of the GSBA yearly membership fees, all GSBA members are automatically listed at LEVEL 1
- LEVELS 2, 3 and 4 allow businesses to enhance their profile, this comes with an additional advertising fee
- GSBA presently sells their LEVEL 2 at $200 per year; LEVEL 3 at $400 p/y; and LEVEL 4 at $600 p/y
- With these pricing points and with a small “straw poll” of GSBA members, the GSBA estimates a first year’s revenue of between $60,000 and $70,000
In case you wish to review the differences between the various Levels …
Level 2 example: the GSBA which automatically pops-up when you arrive on their directory page
Level 3 example: use the company search feature and search for “Five Pints Productions”.
Level 4 example with video footage: use the company search feature and search for “5 Pints Productions” (please note the use of the number: 5)
The MapIt REVENUE GENERATING model also offers a “more attractive” listing format and an easier way for web site visitors to search for the type of business, or the specific member, they may be searching for.
